ASK ME ABOUT: This year’s amazing tournament

HOW SUCCESSFUL WAS THE 2023 WESTERN & SOUTHERN OPEN TOURNAMENT? We sold out 13 of 16 sessions this year with a total attendance of 194,340, marking the sixth time in 10 years we’ve attracted more than 190,000. What’s especially remarkable is that these fans truly come from all over, not only all 50 states but also from 39 countries.

HOW DID THIS YEAR’S NEW ATTRACTIONS, SUCH AS THE FAN ZONE AND THE GRANDVIEW CLUB, ENHANCE THE FAN EXPERIENCE? We saw steady streams of people enjoying the programming in the Fan Zone throughout the tournament, and the expanded hospitality offerings such as the Grandview Club were popular and sold out for numerous sessions.

WHAT MADE THIS YEAR’S TOURNAMENT MORE MEMORABLE THAN PREVIOUS YEARS? Certainly the record-breaking men’s final that lasted nearly four hours between the world’s top two players, Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz, was a special way to conclude the week. And we also saw a real breakout moment with teenager Coco Gauff winning the biggest title of her young career. [She followed up her Cincinnati victory by winning the U.S. Open as well, her first major championship.] It was gratifying to consistently get positive feedback from patrons and players that the efforts we made to upgrade the Western & Southern Open experience for both was extremely well received. We heard from many people that they’re eager to return in 2024, and we look forward to welcoming them back next August.

NOTE: Beemok Capital, owner of the Western & Southern Open, announced on October 10 that the tournament would remain at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason for another 25 years.
