President and CEO, Freestore Foodbank

by Elizabeth Wood

ASK ME ABOUT  My new role as CEO and the broader impact of Freestore Foodbank.

HOW HAS YOUR WORK EXPERIENCE PREPARED YOU FOR THIS NEW POSITION? Most recently, I served as Interim Chief Financial and Operating Officer at The Springer School and Center, and my previous leadership roles include executive positions at Cold Jet, Michelman, Sun Chemical Corporation, and Procter & Gamble. Those roles prepared me by reinforcing how important it is to listen carefully, build strong teams, and keep the focus on the people we serve across our 20 counties in Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana. Leadership here is about aligning partners, staff, volunteers, and donors around a shared mission and making sure our work translates into real help for families.

HOW DO YOU PLAN TO ADVANCE THE MISSION OF FREESTORE FOODBANK? Freestore Foodbank’s mission is as important as ever, and my goal is to build on that foundation while continuing to adapt to changing community needs. That means strengthening partnerships, expanding access where gaps exist, and ensuring we use our resources in ways that provide both immediate relief and long-term stability.

WHAT IS THE UNIQUE ROLE FREESTORE FOODBANK PLAYS IN CINCINNATI COMMUNITIES? Freestore Foodbank plays a unique role because it sits at the intersection of urgent need and community collaboration. We’re not only moving food, but we are also connecting people, agencies, donors, volunteers, and public partners so that the region can respond more effectively to hunger and the challenges that often come with it.
