ASK ME ABOUT My new role as CEO and the future of MadTree Brewing
HOW HAS YOUR EXPERIENCE WITH MADTREE PREPARED YOU TO BECOME CEO? We began planning for this transition more than a year ago, and I worked closely with our founders, Kenny McNutt and Brady Duncan, as well as our new COO, Justin Wiener, to begin laying the groundwork. During the transition, we opened our third location, MadTree Parks & Rec, while also making organizational changes. Simultaneously, Kenny and Brady took steps back, paving the path for Justin and me to take the reins. That gradual transition was extraordinarily helpful. Today I’m able to focus more heavily on MadTree’s overall brand impact and long-term growth and direction.
WHAT IS SOMETHING NEW YOU HOPE TO BRING TO MADTREE? I want to continue doubling down our impact in the community while thought fully growing our business, keeping our team and community at the center of every decision. We’re intentional about our 1 Percent for the Planet giving, meaning we give 1 percent of all sales to local environmental nonprofits. Additionally, our employees give back 16 hours per year of paid volunteer work throughout the city. Culturally, after bringing 200-plus new staff members on in the last 18 months, my focus is on grounding everyone in our core values—being warm and welcoming, crafting to exceed expectations, and building a company our kids will be proud of.
WHAT’S ON THE HORIZON FOR MADTREE? We’re focused ongrowing with deep intention. Whether you’re visiting one of our four locations, now including Alcove at Summit Park, or enjoying our products at home or at your favorite bar or restaurant, we want every interaction to feel distinctly MadTree.
