HOW IS WORKOHIO DIFFERENT FROM OTHER EMPLOYMENT PROGRAMS? WorkOhio is built around a community-centered approach. Over the past year, I’ve traveled to every corner of the state to sit down with local business, education, and community leaders. We learned that Ohio has a lot of momentum, but too many Ohioans simply aren’t aware of the opportunities available or how to take advantage of them. WorkOhio acts as a “front door” for anyone who wants to take the next step in their career journey. Through our new website, Ohioans are connected directly with a real person at one of our WorkOhio Regional Job Hubs, bringing together existing resources and streamlining the job search or skill-seeking process.
WHAT TYPES OF OPPORTUNITIES ARE AVAILABLE THROUGH WORKOHIO? Every region of Ohio has different strengths, which is why WorkOhio is structured regionally. Depending on the region, it may include careers in manufacturing, construction, agriculture, healthcare, energy, aviation and aerospace, research and technology, and many other growing sectors.
WHY IS NOW THE BEST TIME TO LAUNCH SUCH AN INITIATIVE? Ohio’s economy is on the move! In partnership with the General Assembly, our administration has worked hard to make Ohio one of the most business-friendly states in the country—and people are taking notice. As more companies put down roots in Ohio, they’re bringing great jobs with them. WorkOhio brings those pieces together at the right moment, ensuring Ohioans can take full advantage of the jobs being created in their communities.
